I sing and play guitar in a very mediocre way. My solo project is called Drive-by Exorcism… I’m very DIY and play music for the hell of it, not to make money. Some of my songs are spoofs on music excesses, some have political themes, some are just random nonsense, some are meditative, really simplistic instrumentals. But I pour myself into all of them.
I don’t really know how to play guitar, I just fool around until I find things that sound okay to me. I play “shows” at friends’ houses and parties and friends have helped me record 4 EPs and a full-length discography called Girl On Boy Action (compiling those EPs as well as a few previously unreleased songs) I just released a full length tape called "I Have Forgiven Missouri". All are free and self-released. Let me know if you want a copy.
I used to sing in a rock n’ roll band called As Your Ghost Takes Flight, we lasted one show. Still it was fun writing songs. I also sang/scramed/shouted for a punk/metal band called Fake Blood Optional, all of our songs were either Misfits covers or songs about Satan. We weren’t serious, but it was a hell of a lot of fun. We only played two shows.
I’ve been writing songs for 4 years now and still don’t know how to play guitar. This journal is to keep track of whatever crappy musical projects I’m in. I used to go to school in Columbia, Missouri (where those musical projects were based) and now live back home with my parents in the west suburbs of Chicago.
Check out Drive-by Exorcism’s MySpace site and some different Mp3s for free download at http://www.purevolume.com/drivebyexorcism.
Yep, that’s about it. Thanks for stopping by.
